Fred Alsop asked me to relay the following:
Long-time TOS member David Hassler, from Byrdstown, passed away in his sleep
last night. He is survived by his wife Robbie, also a long-time TOS member.
Arrangements will be through Brown Funeral Home in Byrdstown. The family will
be receiving friends tomorrow (Fri) at the funeral home beginning at 5 pm. The
funeral will be Saturday at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Pickett County Library, c/o Fay Wells, 298 Wells Dr., Byrdstown, TN 38549.
Dave & Robbie are well known for their observations of migrating Sandhill
Cranes over Pickett County and wintering Bald Eagles at Dale Hollow Lake, as
well as a strutting Ruffed Grouse attracted to the sound of their farm tractor
(Migrant 39:17, 1968).
Dave will be well remembered and missed by his many friends.
Our love and sympathy to Robbie and other family members.
