TN-Birders, I birded the area around the Cravens house in Chattanooga yesterday = morning for 3 hours. Things were quite brown up there. Not too many = trees had any green on them. Weather was mostly calm and cool and the = birding was quite good (at least exciting for me since I've seen few = migrants this year so far). Highlights are below, including some early = and late birds: Cerulean Warbler: 4=20 Black-thr green Warbler: 12+ Hooded Warbler: 9 Worm-eater: 4, saw a couple before I heard any Black and white warbler: 2 Prairie Warbler: 4, got about 15ft from one that sang oh so softly Red-eyed Vireo: 6 (at least) White-eyed Vireo: 1 Blue-headed vireo: 2=20 Wood Thrush: 2 Indigo Bunting: 1 male (lone bird) Rose-breasted Grosbeak: 4 (nice to see them in the brown trees, I rarely = ever get to actually see one) Ruby-thr Hummer: 1 buzzed me Grey-cheeked Thrush: 1 (early??, got nice looks at it too) Swainson's Thrush: 1 (bathing in the water on gravel road) Ovenbird: 2=20 Field Sparrow: 1 (near the water on along gravel road, odd to find it = there??) House Wren: 1=20 Winter Wren: 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker: 1 (very late???) Summer Tanager: 1=20 Quite a nice morning.
