Had a good morning (10:30 a.m. - noon) at the Cove at Concord Park in west Knox County, Tennessee today. The Horned Grebes are back. Last time I was here (Thanksgiving morning) I didn't find any but did have a group of 23-24 Pied Billeds. Today's highlight, however, was the adult Bald Eagle I saw circling at noon as I walked back to my car. Only the second Bald Eagle I've seen here and the first adult. Here's my eBird checklist: Location: Concord Park --The Cove Observation date: 12/6/09 Number of species: 26 Mallard 2 Horned Grebe 5 Great Blue Heron 1 Bald Eagle 1 Red-tailed Hawk 2 Killdeer 3 Bonaparte's Gull 25 Ring-billed Gull 12 Mourning Dove 4 Belted Kingfisher 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker 1 Downy Woodpecker 1 Northern Flicker 1 Blue Jay 5 American Crow 2 Carolina Chickadee 2 Tufted Titmouse 3 White-breasted Nuthatch 1 Carolina Wren 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1 Northern Mockingbird 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 Dark-eyed Junco 3 Northern Cardinal 1 American Goldfinch 1 This report was generated automatically by eBird v2(http://ebird.org) Carole Gobert, Knoxvillle, Knox County, TN _________________________________________________________________ Get gifts for them and cashback for you.
