While I'm sure others will be better able to answer Shelley's question, I was
inspired by it to search for an answer on eBird using a new feature that
enables you to seach for earliest arrival and latest departure dates at various
locations. Of course, this is not all inclusive as it is based only on data
that has been submitted to eBird and a lot of birders do not do that. What I
found was that for the entire state of Tennessee, the earliest reported arrival
date for Baltimore Oriole was April 12. This was from a checklist submitted
for the Norris Songbird Trail in Anderson County, Tennessee on April 12, 2005.
The earliest arrival date reported for Knox County, Tennessee was April 22,
2006 at the Knoxville Zoo.
This is a great new feature in eBird. You can also use it to find all time high
counts for each species.
