[TN-Bird] Continous Feeding

This cold is serious! The birds seem to be combating it with so many feeding
most of the day, never leaving the feeding areas.

Perhaps this is somewhat of an exaggeration, but many birds were at the feeder
all day. Juncos, Titmice, Chick-a-dees were many. I saw very few of the
Mourning Doves which often flood the feeder. I saw only one of these at a
time.. House Finch and a Purple Finch (male). And no more than 2 Goldfinches
at a time. The Song Sparrow was not seen as often at the others were. The
White-breasted Nuthatches(2) fed often.

The one Mourning Dove I remember seeing sat on my porch this morning. It was
not feeding although I had thrown seed in the shelter of the porch. I hope it
had fed earlier. I was not as dedicated at watching the feeders as I am
sometimes.

The Purple Finch showed up several times earlier in the day. Late day I did not
see it at all. This is the first Purple Finch I have seen in a while.

According to the weather reports the weather will be even colder tomorrow. My
thermometer did not get above 19 degrees all day. We have about 2 or 3 inches
of dry snow with lots of wind with white-outs at times. My thermometer is at
about 15 degrees presently at 10:30 PM. But it is a rather inexpensive one and
my not be accurate.

I hope to watch my viewing area more closely tomorrow. Am so glad I bought
several bags of seed... it is going fast though. Again I wonder how the birds
survive this brutal weather.
