[TN-Bird] Common Redpoll, Hohenwald 2/24/07 Saturday YES

Good views of the Common Redpoll at my mother's yard were had by all  
this morning, starting at 6:38 a.m. and continuing through just a few  
minutes ago (9:15 a.m.)  The bird was doubtless still present when I  
left.  There seem to be even more American Goldfinches now than there  
have been on previous days, at least 100 if not 200 or more.  The  
Redpoll has been in the wisteria clump, and around both the backyard  
and front yard feeders, as well as on the ground below the feeders  
and in the trees above them.  Best and most leisurely views were had  
while it was perched in the wisteria.

Yesterday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until sundown the bird was a no- 
show.  There were almost no goldfinches around at that time either.   
Mornings have been best these last two days.  Rain has moved in,  
however, so no telling what that will do to the routine.  The redpoll  
seems to follow the goldfinch flock; as goes one, so goes the other.
