[TN-Bird] Collinwood BBS results

Out on the Collinwood BBS today (June 8, 2008), which runs along the
southwestern Highland Rim in Wayne and Lawrence Counties, just a few
miles north of the Alabama line. It's a mix of fragmented forest,
old clearcuts, pastures, and large agricultural areas near the end
where it passes into the extensive barrens south of Lawrenceburg.
Today's species total was 74 species, with 14 species of warblers.
The highlight was probably an unexpected Cerulean Warbler,
historically only an occasional find on this route. I also had a
whopping total of 9 Blue-winged Warblers, as the vast old clearcuts
in the Wayne County portion have now grown up to be Blue-wing habitat
and the birds have most definitely moved in. The Lawrence County
barrens produced one pair each of Loggerhead Shrikes and American
Kestrels, both quite spotty breeders in middle Tennessee as a whole
but regular in this area.
