[TN-Bird] Chippies in song!

Hi Birders,
Since Wednesday, I have been hearing my chipping sparrows in full song here
in the Charlotte Park area of West Nashville near the Cumberland River in
Davidson County. I didn't report sooner as I wanted a SIGHT record which I had
this morning when one of the chippies flew to the top of a tree and started its
"bubbling burst" of melody.

What with all these sorry starlings in the neighborhood mimicking just about
everything, I wanted to be absolutely certain that they hadn't become
"chipping-starls" as well as being phoebe, peewee, bob-white and meadowlark
wannabees
among other things. Good grief, it's rough when one has to question one's own
ears these days for birds known by voice for 55+ years.

I've been having lots of common grackles in very bronzy plumage coming to
feed along with ONE lone male redwing. My cowbirds also made an appearance day
before yesterday.

A bird that appeared to be a warbler was in a treetop yesterday, but, by the
time I got inside to get my glasses, it had disappeared. Drat! Oh well,
maybe it will return this afternoon.

Cheers & prayers,

Dee Thompson
Nashville, TN
