[TN-Bird] Cherokee, Jefferson Co. birding

Did some birding in Jefferson Co. on Sunday (28 Nov).

Cherokee Lake is still very high compared to previous
years at this time. Not much was happening out on the
lake. Cherokee is often boom or bust. Today was bust.

On the lake from Cherokee Dam (Jefferson/Grainger Co.):
1 Common Loon, 1 Pied-billed Grebe, 1 gull sp. that
disappeared before I got the scope on it, 20-30 Killdeer
on one of the few exposed islands.

A handfull of Black-crowned Night-Herons and Great Blue
Herons were staked out around the tailwaters below the dam
and about 6-8 "Western" Palm Warblers were in their usual
winter hangout around the tailwater parking area.

At a nearby farm pond, I had a single female Am. Wigeon
in with 8-10 Mallards and a farm duck plus an adult Red-headed
Woodpecker working the pine-beetle-killed pines.

At Mossy Creek Wildlife Viewing Area in Jefferson City:
10+ Green-winged Teal, 3 Am. Wigeon, 50+ Mallards.

A female Northern Harrier was working the old Dickcissel
field at my former "patch" at the ponds in New Market.
The cattle have apparently been removed from this field
and the habitat looks promising for the possible return
of Dickcissel here after a good 5-year absence.

Red-tailed Hawks and American Kestrels were in abundance
througout the area.
