You have reached Kevin Calhoon with the Chattanooga RBA, sponsored by the Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society. This is Update Number #14 made on June 7, 2003. You can call the RBA at 423 -821- 4381. The ROSEATE SPOONBILL was still present as of 5:00 PM EST on June 4. (Terry Witt) I have not had any reports since that date. The location is about 1.5 miles south of Thrasher Pike exit on rt. 27. If you are coming north on 27, it is best to proceed to the Thrasher Pike exit and go south and the area would then be on the RIGHT. There is ample room to pull off there. The bird is moving around, so scan the area well. The Scissor-tailed Flycatchers are still being seen at the Lodge Plant in South Pittsburgh, Marion co. as of June 4. (Gary Casey, Dennis Harris) A Horned Lark was seen at the Brainerd Levee on May 31. (Janice Chadwell) Four Semipalmated Sandpipers were at the horse pasture near the Brainerd Levee on June 3. (Kevin Calhoon) A Willow Flycatcher was calling at Standifer Gap Marsh on June 4. Also at the marsh was a Least Bittern (they are most probably breeding there) and a Virginia Rail was heard. (Also probably breeding at this location). (Gary Casey) The next general meeting of the Chattanooga TOS will be on June 12 at 7:00 PM at the Accension Luthern Church 720 South Germantown Road. Spring migration is winding down. Get out in the Field and let me know what you see!! =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
