[tn-bird] Re: Cattle Egret/ Clinton, TN

Actually it was Michael Sledjeski who found the Cattle Egret
nests at Rankin. They took Rick Knight out in their canoes
to show him the sight then Chris Welsh took me, David Trently
and some others out in kayaks. That was in June 2000. The
colony had moved (or didn't breed) last summer. This year
they are back.

The ones at Kingston may be seen best from Lawnville Road
(a couple of exits east of the steam plant exit). I've been
there but couldn't give directions to the farm where they're
ususally seen. Look for brahma (sp?) cattle, they seem to
like hanging around them better than other breeds.

I had Cattle Egrets spend a couple weeks at the ponds in
New Market (Jefferson Co., TN) in late May to early June in
1990 and 1991 I believe it was. Never found a nest site.
