[tn-bird] Cattle Egret/ Clinton, TN

A brief drive through Eagle Bend Fish Hatchery/ Clinton , TN Anderson
County today:

A lone CATTLE EGRET- unusual here in E TN.
(1) GREAT EGRET
(2) Great Blue Heron
(12) PECTORAL SANDPIPERS
(1) SPOTTED
 (6) LEAST SANDPIPER
(1) SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER- First this fall I've seen

Numerous Green Heron/ Canada Geese/ Killdeer
Swallows-Barn only and Chimney Swift.
An immature Red-Shoulder Hawk was about.

A couple of the ponds have been drawn down exposing good mud flats .
Check the 2nd pond on the right as you go in. This is where the majority
of the birds were today. A strange sight to me was 50+ Starlings walking
around the mud flats picking at stuff like peeps. As I sneaked up the
embankment and peered over my first impression from a distance was that
there were a LOT of shorebirds till I took a closer look! The sandpipers
were feeding in with the starlings.
** THE manager said he has a Kaufman field guide he found around one of
the dikes recently . He has it in the office.....
