I found a Red-throated loon around noon this afternoon at Hamilton Creek
recreation area on Percy priest lake in Nashville, along with 80 or so
Common Linda loons. After that, I decided to check the rocky beach area at
the percy priest dam visitor area and was thrilled to see a tiny CACKLING
GOOSE in the water by itself. The bird was quite skittish and moved down
the shore when a person walked down to the water. I had only just turned my
back on it to leave when Shelly Smith showed up, and it took several
minutes to even relocate the bird huddled up next to the rocks. I never
would have seen it If it had been there when I arrived. Great fortune and
great birding! My Davidson county bird #280.
