Feb. 24, 2007 Shelby Farms Shelby Co, TN I checked the geese this AM at Shelby Farms and located 2 groups of Cackling Geese totaling 31 birds. The birds were feeding in the same field with Canada, Greater White-fronted and Snow Geese. The two groups of Cackling fed in different areas of the field never coming together. I got a few distant photos under the gray skies. Mike Todd had 44 Cackling Geese at Britton Ford earlier this year which is probably the high number for TN. These two groups gave me my largest number for the state. Geese have been moving over the area heading north all week. Good Birding !!! Jeff R.
