[tn-bird] Re: Brown-headed nuthatch excavating dead pine tree cavity

Glad to see that someone else recorded the presence of Cerulean
Warblers along the North Boundary Greenway on the Oak Ridge
Reservation. I heard and saw a male singing yesterday (June 27)
myself. He was at the identical location along that trail where
Ceruleans have been heard/seen for the past four years in a row during
the breeding season. This site fidelity would appear to make it likely
that they are breeding there. Hope we can get some positive evidence of
breeding this season. Please keep a look out for adults returning to a
nest and/or for fledglings in late June, early July! It would be the
first recorded confirmed breeding of Ceruleans in Roane County that I am
aware of.
With regard to the Brown-headed Nuthatches, hope you read the
article in the latest Migrant on BHNUs and Red-headed Woodpeckers on the
OR Reservation. If not, you should take a look at that issue (March
2001).
