Greetings Birders,
While working at the kitchen sink and looking out the window while working, I
saw a wee bird flit onto the bottom of a tree in my back yard here in the
Charlotte Park area of West Nashville just a few blocks east of the Cleece's
Ferry Ramp at the Cumberland River in Davidson County. I grabbed the
(unnecessary) binoculars and rushed to the dining room doors for a better look.
Sure
enough, it was my first of the season brown creeper shinnying upward on the
trunk
of one of my hackberry trees. About half way up, it left that tree and
swooped down to the bottom of another tree closer by. After checking that
hackberry
out, it flew over to the bottom of the dead ash which it REALLY gave a
thorough checking up to about half way, then it flew off to the Southeast
toward the
WSMV TV tower about a half-mile away by air. It seems early for this little
bird to be here. I don't usually get any until December.
