[TN-Bird] Brow-headed Nuthatches & Others

    I have not got to do much pure birding (as opposed to seeing or hearing 
birds while working) at The Honors course this winter. Today from 4:45 until 
5:45 I was able to bird by myself and saw 27 species in that hour.

    Perhaps the most interesting was watching four Brown-headed Nuthatches 
trying to eat off the same piece of beef suet. There were also two 
White-breasted Nuthatches watching from about 30 feet. Apparently they were 
intimidated by the large number of their brown-headed cousins.

    Also of interest was a flock of about 100 Sandhill Cranes flew over. They 
appeared to be heading toward the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge.
