[TN-Bird] Bobcat

Last night while trying to pick up owl calls over my outside microphone, a few
mournful wails of coyotes communicating was all I could hear at first. But
about 45 minutes later at 8:30 PM a blood curdling scream (if that's what you
could call it) really caught my attention! I went just outside the door and
stood against the wall and waited. It started again and continued for 20
minutes. After a while I recognized it as a Bobcat. It was within 200 feet
from where I was standing, just over the hill at a spring. It very gradually
moved around the hill into a clear cut and I didn't hear it again. The call
sounds like a mountain lion on a bit higher scale but includes a scratchy
guttural sound that is impressive.
Although I consider myself a naturalist, I felt the hair rise on the back of my
neck.
But---no owls.
