We saw Tom Howe's Greater White-fronted Goose this morning, Monday, Feb. 20.
It and about 20 Canadas came in for a landing at 8:15 a.m. in the same spot
reported by him Sunday. They began feeding there, in the muddy field behind
the Phelps Dairy pond at the intersection of Old Lowes Ferry Road and ??? Road
which goes through the farm, not far from Scenic Point community in Blount
County. They might have been feeding on leftover cattle feed. At 8:45, they
had moved farther back. Two Sandhill Cranes were with them, one of them being
the one with the deformed upper mandible.
