Drove down to the River at the Tiptonville park area. That area has been paved
which, after two + inches of rain last night, would of been a muddy mess where
they had been working. Counted at least 200 Black Terns. No other Terns seen.
Lots of Rought winged swallows. Saw a Osprey as we drove North from the landing
and 4 Snowy Egrets in the slough. Saw some of the smallest cotton Bolls I have
ever seen in the cotton fields where the Short eared owls have been found on
the Tiptonville Ferry Rd in past winters. They actually cut the Smith Longspur
field at Cates Landing this month. Maybe the Arista grass survived and the
Smiths will be there this year.
