Well, Saturday was a windy and very cold day, but a good day! Mark
Hopey and I sat and counted Hawks most of the afternoon. They were
screaming by in the NW wind which was blowing steadily at 33 mph average
with gusts to 40 plus! Temperature was 44 degrees at 7:00 with a wind
chill of about 29! We saw quite a few hawks, mostly in the late
afternoon and the last pair of broad wings came by at 7:15 pm as the sun
was setting.

108 Broad-wings

2 Peregrine Falcons

Passerines banded included Magnolia, Cape May, Myrtle, Bay-breasted
Warblers and Slate-colored Juncos (banders still use the old names)

On Sunday we banded 81 passerines and again saw quite a few hawks,
though Mendota (just 30 miles or so NE of us) appears to have had many
more Broad-wings than we got.
