Winter Wren:
I have a question for anyone out there...am I just dreaming of being in the
mountains or could I possibly have heard a winter wren doing its song today...I
am very familiar with the song ...
The direction of the bird's song was across the lake on the hill where the sun
was beaming its last rays before setting...pretty bright...I have heard this
wren so often in the mountains at Mt Rogers, etc...had one at my feeder early
winter feeding on insects around a concrete block...
I know sometimes during a "thaw" I hear spring like songs of other birds...
this bird stopped me in my tracks as I was walking onto the dock asI heard it.
I have seen winter wrens as we canoe the Duck in Winter...but have never heard
one sing during this time of the year...Thanks for any imput.
