Today a friend, Rayzell Jolly, called and asked if I would like to see a new
Bald Eagle's nest on Dale Hollow Lake. I called my birding friend, Margo
Hinkle and we joined him. He had discovered it yesterday located at the end of
Fulton Ridge Rd on the Corps of Engineers property. When we arrived one adult
bird was on the nest one was circling the area. The nest and bird was easily
seen through the bare tree limbs. At one time we saw movement in the nest
suggesting a chick pushing the adult bird's wing up and out.
I will have to give more information later, but it is interesting that this
nest is located within 3 or 4 hundred yards from the nest my husband, David and
I monitored in 1998 which was located on the bluff in a shagbark hickory tree
visible only from the Ky side of the lake. That nesting attempt was
unsuccessful.
