Byrdstown, TN
Pickett County
9/3/06
Today as I was driving back from church, within one half mile from my house an
adult Bald Eagle flew up from a pond and right over my car and landed in a
group of trees in a field. I stopped and watched it a few minutes then drove a
few hundred yards to my niece's house and told her. She started walking back
to see it as I drove slowly back and stopped. I eased the car door open to see
it better and it flew just before she could see it. As I was apologizing
another one flew out of the same tree before she could see it! As a seasoned
birder I should have remembered to be still and after another apology I
verbally kicked myself all the way home. Maybe I'm too seasoned!
