While attempting yesterday (Saturday, Nov. 29) to see lift-off of the
Whooping Cranes from Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Meigs County,
Tennessee, Whitey
Hitchcock and I were frustrated by another day of no flight because of
the wind. We did, however, spy a late BLUE-HEADED VIREO near the
lookout platform at the Blythe Ferry Management Area. We also saw an
adult BALD EAGLE Eagle soaring near the Hwy. 58 bridge over the Hiwassee
River in Meigs County.
The young Whooping Cranes, according the web page reports of Heather
Ray, did manage to depart Hiwassee this morning (Sunday), although
reluctantly. They are apparently at this moment in Gordon County,
Georgia.
