I conducted the Collinwood, TN BBS Friday morning, and had an interesting list this year. The highlight was a singing Bachman's Sparrow along California Branch Road, just east of the intersection with Railroad Bed-Iron City Road (Delorme p. 19, C5). The route begins on Railroad Bed-Iron City Road and Thompson Hollow Road intersection, and the first few stops are in recent clear cut areas. After turning on California Branch Road, the clear-cutting activities pick up again just east of a few small farms. This entire area has lots of Bachman's habitat, but I only had a singing bird at one stop. Other highlights for the morning included Wood Duck at one stop, Broad-winged Hawk at one, Cooper's Hawk at THREE!, and Scarlet Tanagers outnumbering Summers. Damien Simbeck Killen, AL
