[TN-Bird] Baby barn swallows, Loudon County

At Fort Loudon Dam Sunday perched on a railing at the River Bank overlook,
on the way down to the fishing area, were about half a dozen young barn
swallows, begging. Really cute. Adults were nearby. As usual, there were
numerous black vultures (at least 13) on the rocks and in a tree down by the
water. Fort Loudon Dam appears to be a favorite haunt of theirs. If you
want a close-up view of a black vulture, this is the place to go. Also lots
and lots of great blue and black crowned night herons perched up on the dam
and flying around.

At Tellico Dam, the four kestrels I saw last Saturday are still there. They
were lined up on a distant wire visible from the paved walking trail. On a
closer wire was a brilliantly shining and singing indigo bunting. Perched
up in the high grass just past the parking lot was a colorful male orchard
oriole.
