Charlie, For that area, I would say it would run a close race between the Eastern Towhee, American Robin, and the Tufted Titmouse. However, it seems you think we might be surprised so what if I said the Wood Thrush?? I have participated in the Breeding Bird Survey in southeast Georgia and what a challenge.. the person who had a fantastic recognition of songs and even chips.. certainly a good birder by ear...by some means never picked up on the Towhee. So I would be the one who heard that one. My contribution... And they were just about at every stop. Will look forward to your answer.
