[TN-Bird] Am. Tree Sparrow in Bellevue, TN

River Plantation Section X

The AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, seen Sunday on the ground at my
feeders in Bellevue on the southwest side of Nashville, was
seen again Monday, late in the afternoon when Bonnie and
I returned from work. It was congregating with several
other species of sparrows and hunting in the grass for seeds.

A search Tuesday morning before I left for work did not turn
it up. The resident NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD has recently become
much more protective of the feeder area and from time to time
has begun chasing away the starlings, blackbirds, cardinals
and sparrows that come to feed. This morning it pulled some
feathers from a cardinal that was a bit too slow in leaving
the area. Squirrels seem to keep an eye on the flock of
starlings and blackbirds and appear with them at the feeders.
