TVA Lake - Robco Lake
Shelby Co, TN
As I had expected, there are two different female Long-tailed Ducks using
TVA Lake but this is the first time I have located both at the same time.
Slight
plumage differences over the past few weeks made me suspect there were two.
The male Long-tailed was also present in the mass this morning but just the
two females were there this afternoon. The Black Scoter appears to be a male
molting into its first summer plumage and it was also still there this
afternoon. Just a ton of Greater, Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked, Canvasbacks to
sort
through but well worth the time. I also had 5 Lesser Scaup sporting 4
different
colors of bill tags.
The BIG surprise was at Robco Lake, both this morning and this afternoon
just a handful of ducks?? Has spring beckoned them north??
Good Birding !!!
