Folks, After working with Wyse tech support yesterday it seems that Wyse
is aware of this problem and there is a firmware update which resolves
this problem. I will be applying the patch today after I get through
their cryptic instructions for setting up updates through FTP. I will
send an update on how this works.

I'm pretty sure the G85 is inkjet based. The link below point to G85
compatible accessories like ink cartridges and inkjet paper.

Since it's an inkjet model, have you tried aliasing it to a DeskJet 550C
instead?

We have a client that is using a HP Officejet G85xi. When they attempt to
print from our application the printout appears with Just seemingly Random
ASCII characters. However if I send a Windows Test page it prints cleanly.
The Officejet is aliased to a LaserJet 4 driver.
At first I thought it might be some kind of Font issue. However the user has
printed locally and cleanly using the suspected font. We have NT4TSE SP^
and MF 1.8SP2 on the servers.... Any ideas?

Hi,

Has anyone out there had any experience trying to install/configure the
following applications on Citrix Metaframe 1.8.
Quicken Deluxe 2000, TAS books v3.18, Peachtree Accounting.

I suspect that they are not supported but I was wondering if anyone had got
them working.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Jim
Thanks for replying. Unfortunately that didn't work for me.

Running W2K Servers w/ MF 1.8 in an NT4.0 Domain
Our Servers have three partitions

y:\ is our system drive also where profiles are stored

I saved our profile script in our scripts directory on drive x: I ran the

the profiles did not delete. Thinking that the script (and accompanying
utilities) would have to be in the same directory as the profiles, I copied

So now my question is... does DELPROF.EXE look for a variable for the proper

Hello
We have an issue with roaming profiles not logging off properly. I KNOW I
KNOW...(check the archives) But hear me out. We have the registry set to
delete all copies of roaming profiles, and under most circumstances, they
delete just fine. However, at times when a users session is reset (after
being idle for 4 hours) or the computer hangs, the profiles will stick. I
downloaded the script that unlocks the registry for those profiles. I can
them manually delete them by right clicking on My Computer then going into
the profiles tab. My question is, is there a way to automate the deletion
of the profiles within x:\Documents and Settings ? I obviously can't write a
script to delete the contents because then the all users directory would be
deleted. Any suggestions or links that might assist me? Thanks in advance
Mario

We have a client that is using a HP Officejet G85xi. When they attempt
to print from our application the printout appears with Just seemingly
Random ASCII characters. However if I send a Windows Test page it
prints cleanly. The Officejet is aliased to a LaserJet 4 driver. At
first I thought it might be some kind of Font issue. However the user
has printed locally and cleanly using the suspected font. We have
NT4TSE SP^ and MF 1.8SP2 on the servers.... Any ideas?

I made a simple .cmd file ages ago. It runs at startup (using the autostrt
service available form thethin.net) and saves the default user and all users
profiles, deletes the contents of the profiles directory, then restores the
two that were saved. It may not be pretty but it worked for us! The servers
are rebooted once a week. I use delprof in a shutdown script and the .cmd
file below to catch the escapees at startup.

Subject: [THIN] XP network printer autocreate issues...
Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 09:16:21 -0400

I am in the process of finishing up a New Metaframe XP server
installation and have run into a strange printer issue...

The Server is configured with W2K-SP2, Metaframe XPa SP2-FR2 as a member
server in a W2k AD Domain. Within CMC, I have imported network printers
from the network Print Server.

When an ICA client logs into the server (via desktop or published app),
local non-network printers are autocreated within the session.
Local-network printers are not autocreated though. The imported printers
are available at this point. The problem that this causes is that if the
Client has a local network printer set as a default, and that printer is
not autocreated then they get another printer (one of the imported
printers) randomly selected as default, which is invariably not the
closest printer. The other issue is that the remote sites are going to
need to rely on the autocreation process to select their default
peer-shared printers in their locations.

Here's the kicker.... I created a local account on the Citrix server and
logged in using those credentials and all of the local and local-network
printers autocreated, but the imported printers did not show up!!!
Logging into the domain, the local-network printers do not autocreate,
but the imported printers do. If I run through the 'Add Printer' wizard,
I can browse the 'Client' network and see a listing of ALL of the client
printers including the problematic ones. If I complete the wizard by
selecting one of these printers, that printer works fine... At this
point, I thought it may have been a GPO issue, and disabled the
associated GPO for the Citrix server, but still no dice... No
local-network printers autocreated!!

I've checked permissions on the Spool folders on the Citrix server and
print server, they look good. I have checked and re-checked every
printer related setting I can think of. I've got Printer Management set
to create all local printers.. and I have most of these drivers (native
HP) installed on the Citrix server.

I'm about out of ideas.....

Quicken works, but you have to remember to have the server in install
mode when running updates as well.

Which version of Peachtree Accounting? I've made Peachtree Complete
work, but never have been able to get Peachtree First Accounting to
work.

If it's Peachtree Complete, I have steps for that, just let me know.

Hi,

Has anyone out there had any experience trying to install/configure
the
following applications on Citrix Metaframe 1.8.
Quicken Deluxe 2000, TAS books v3.18, Peachtree Accounting.

I suspect that they are not supported but I was wondering if anyone had
got
them working.

Thanks for any help.

Regards

Yes it is quite easy so long as you don't want to use https on the NFuse =

I am in the process of finishing up a New Metaframe XP server
installation and have run into a strange printer issue...=20

The Server is configured with W2K-SP2, Metaframe XPa SP2-FR2 as a member
server in a W2k AD Domain. Within CMC, I have imported network printers
from the network Print Server.=20

No
local-network printers autocreated!!=20

I've checked permissions on the Spool folders on the Citrix server and
print server, they look good. I have checked and re-checked every
printer related setting I can think of. I've got Printer Management set
to create all local printers.. and I have most of these drivers (native
HP) installed on the Citrix server.=20

I'm about out of ideas.....=20

I've done it. Its just a pain and usurps what you are trying to do
right. Use SSL (443) for everything... Then there are ways to do that
also.

When you say Citrix Engineers I assume you mean either Citrix Consulting
services or a VAR of some type. =20

If it was a regional SE they should be able to get it done. VAR's don't
always have the hottest guy on that job (I said not always....) and for
the CCS guys. Well they have some real good guys, don't get me wrong,
but they are not allowed to hire guys from VARs, guys with lots of
experience implementing Citrix servers and solutions.... So who are
these guys? Just consultants that they have to train on Citrix. Let use
know what's up and the list will help you get it running buddy.

Not a bash CCS mind you but just a note from a guy who couldn't even
talk to CCS when it was started since I was an employee of a
partner......

Subject: [THIN] Logon scripts
From: SPerez@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 10:12:44 -0400

Group,

I have a mixed Windows Client network. When I migrated to W2K my kix
scripts would no longer function correctly.
So I created a simple batch file.

I was looking at the primary group in NT to map a drive but since W2K kix
wouldn't work correctly,
I was wondering if anyone has any logon scripts that work great in a mixed
WIndows environment?
Thank You,

Gene,

XP uses a user in your domain, so if you specified Administrator as the
account that has access then you should be able to log in with the
administrator account and password that is valid on your domain.

Great with the CCS guys right... anyway. I got in trouble last time I
talked about Citrix so I'll shut up.

ANWYAY....

You can run them on the same server. You need to ad the Cert to the box
and use SSL (443) for the web page an change the port for the CSG piece.
Firewall traversal can be a pain at that point but it will work.=20

If it's Peachtree Complete, I have steps for that, just let me know.

Hi,

Has anyone out there had any experience trying to install/configure

following applications on Citrix Metaframe 1.8.
Quicken Deluxe 2000, TAS books v3.18, Peachtree Accounting.

I suspect that they are not supported but I was wondering if anyone had

Thanks for any help.

This fix is for Peachtree Complete Accounting 8. It may work for older
or newer versions, but the filenames may be different.

Copy the PCW80.INI and BTI.INI from the WTSRV directory to each users
WINDOWS directory. Test that first, if that doesn't work, add the user
to the PowerUsers group also.

Subject: [THIN] individual user printer mappings
Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 11:24:15 -0400

I have my printing set to use the UPD only because it's working best like
this. I need to be able to define a mapping for 1 user however, and not
just rely on UPD for that particular user. How abouts do I do this?

I can't use the native or UPD option. I have some odd problem that some
users native drivers will map and some won't, and for the ones that won't,
the UPD never kicks in, so this will screw with all the other users, thus I
don't have the ability to flip back to native/UPD.

FR-2 has a feature to detect your local connected network printers and then
within your WTS session, remap them directly to the print server as opposed
to printing through the local client. So if your print server is on a high
bandwidth backbone along with your WTS servers it would dramatically improve
bandwidth utilization. In order for this function to work, you must be
using the latest ICA client and the ID of which you login to WTS, must have
permissions to print to that LAN printer.

This function appears to work well in our test lab, we have not put FR-2
into production yet.

Subject: [THIN] XP network printer autocreate issues...

Yes, according to Citrix, every piece of the CSG product can be
installed on the same machine, and not only do they not suggest doing
this (unless this is a test machine) but they don't support it.
Also, why put the CSG piece and Nfuse on the same server? How many
users are you planning to support with this? Hell, I have a PIV 1.6
workstation with 256MB of RAM acting as the CSG in my test lab, and I
have had as many as 50 people testing this out without a performance
hit.

Great with the CCS guys right... anyway. I got in trouble last time I
talked about Citrix so I'll shut up.

ANWYAY....

You can run them on the same server. You need to ad the Cert to the
box and use SSL (443) for the web page an change the port for the CSG
piece. Firewall traversal can be a pain at that point but it will
work.=20

I've done it. Its just a pain and usurps what you are trying to do
right. Use SSL (443) for everything... Then there are ways to do that
also.

When you say Citrix Engineers I assume you mean either Citrix
Consulting services or a VAR of some type. =3D20

If it was a regional SE they should be able to get it done. VAR's
don't always have the hottest guy on that job (I said not always....)
and for the CCS guys. Well they have some real good guys, don't get
me wrong, but they are not allowed to hire guys from VARs, guys with
lots of experience implementing Citrix servers and solutions.... So
who are these guys? Just consultants that they have to train on
Citrix. Let use know what's up and the list will help you get it
running buddy.

Not a bash CCS mind you but just a note from a guy who couldn't even
talk to CCS when it was started since I was an employee of a
partner......

I have just upgraded my last of 3 servers from 1.8 to XPa, they all run
Windows 2000. In the CMC under the licenses tab, connections, I show 65
licenses for a count, pooled in use shows 0, pooled available shows 65,
assigned shows 0. In my event log, I am getting a message "Application
Popup- Citrix ICA logon message-The system has reached it's licensed logon
limit, Please try again later." Why isn't XP assigning these licenses if
they are pooled and ready to hand out??

I have a lot of users who are trying to get on the system and getting this
message, as you can imagine it is becoming an "issue"

Thanks in advance!

Why did you install the Columbia site in the same directory as your default

directory for your Columbia site to reside in. This should allow you to
very quickly and easily verify if your Columbia site is working correctly.

You could try something like the below 2 batch files

Batch file 1

REM clean out the log file by piping the date into it
date /T > Logfile.log
REM get a current list of Profiles
dir "c:\documents and settings\" /b >TempList.txt
REM For every profile in the list run batch file 2
for /F %%f in (TempList.txt) do call "batch2.bat" %%f

batch file 2

REM do not delete the default user, All User, and administrator profiles
if "%1"=="default use" exit
if "%1"=="all users" exit
if "%1"=="<your administrative ID as you would likely want to keep" exit
REM Remove the users profile folder, sub folders and files,
REM pipe the results of the RD command to a Log to diagnose those profiles
that do not delete
RD "c:\documents and settings\%1" /S /Q >> Logfile.log
exit

We do something similar (weekly) but rather than delete the user profile (as
we keep the local even though we have roaming) we use the batch files to
clean up the profiles (both local and roaming) deleting redundant and
unnecessary files. keeps the profiles very small and efficient,
dramatically improves login logout performance.

Hi Mario,

Delprof will only delete profiles referenced under
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\profilelist. It doesn't
actually know about the default user and all users profiles, but since
they're not listed under profilelist, they're left alone, as are profiles of
logged on users.

Typically, if a profile got stuck or corrupted, the "new" profile will be
something like username.001 etc. If you run delprof, the original "broken"
profile won't be deleted.

You'll need either win2k SP3 or Q292548 (fix stuck profiles) and a bit of
scripting to get rid of the profiles delprof doesn't delete.

Hello Jim
Thanks for replying. Unfortunately that didn't work for me.

Running W2K Servers w/ MF 1.8 in an NT4.0 Domain
Our Servers have three partitions
x:\ is for support/utility files
y:\ is our system drive also where profiles are stored
Z:\ is our programs drive

I saved our profile script in our scripts directory on drive x: I ran the
script from a command prompt and all went through with no errors. However,
the profiles did not delete. Thinking that the script (and accompanying
utilities) would have to be in the same directory as the profiles, I copied
them over and ran it again. Nothing. I looked on the M$ website and found
the syntax and parameters and tried them, still nothing.

So now my question is... does DELPROF.EXE look for a variable for the proper
directory?
I've copied the script below just in case.
I'm VERY appreciative for your help
Mario

THIS IS THE SCRIPT

@echo
REM This batch file gets rid of stuck profiles. x:\scripts\regunld.exe >>
x:\scripts\regunload.log echo y | delprof.exe :END

I've also tried
x:\scripts\DELPROF.EXE /y

Thanks again

Mario

Subject: [THIN] HELP!- CMC not assigning licenses

I have just upgraded my last of 3 servers from 1.8 to XPa, they all run
Windows 2000. In the CMC under the licenses tab, connections, I show 65
licenses for a count, pooled in use shows 0, pooled available shows 65,
assigned shows 0. In my event log, I am getting a message "Application
Popup- Citrix ICA logon message-The system has reached it's licensed =
logon
limit, Please try again later." Why isn't XP assigning these licenses =
if
they are pooled and ready to hand out??

I have a lot of users who are trying to get on the system and getting =
this
message, as you can imagine it is becoming an "issue"

Thanks in advance!

P.S. All of these servers are at Feature release 1, I have not installed =

Yes they all have the same product code. I checked in another spot in the
CMC, when I click on servers on the left pane, and then select the
individual server, and click on the licenses tab it shows that it is
grabbing pooled licenses from the 65. It is only when I click on Licensing
on the left side, and then connections on the right that it does not show
that any of the pooled 65 are being used.

Also, it seems that it is only the latest server to be upgraded is having
the issue right now. This server was upgraded while the other two were
fresh installs if that could make a difference. In fact I have had the
upgraded server lock up twice this morning since the upgrade. While it was
locked up, it seems that is when the other two servers started with the
licensing error, bbut now since the upgraded server is running, I don't see
the errors on the other servers.

That is exactly what I did for the two servers that were fresh installs,
this latest server that is giving me the problem was an upgrade from 1.8.
The upgrade appeared to go smoothly, once I rebooted, I installed Service
Pack 1 with FR1, rebooted again, opened the CMC and whala, all the licensing
showed up no problem. Then it started locking up.

I am beginning the migration of NT4 to W2k on all of our servers and I was

IE6 is fine. No problems with IE6 itself.

HOWEVER. The IEAK for IE6 is b0rked IMHO. We've yet to have a custom IE
browesr work 100%. It's either some weird thing with javascript not working
properly or the mail client not being specified properly. The later you can
fix, the former you cannot.

We even tried not even making any customization, just using the IEAK to make
a stock IE6 install, and the same problems still occur.

But if your not using IEAK an using GPO to customize IE, then definately use
IE6 IMHO.

That is exactly what I did for the two servers that were fresh
installs, this latest server that is giving me the problem was an
upgrade from 1.8. The upgrade appeared to go smoothly, once I
rebooted, I installed Service Pack 1 with FR1, rebooted again, opened
the CMC and whala, all the licensing showed up no problem. Then it

I have just upgraded my last of 3 servers from 1.8 to XPa, they all
run Windows 2000. In the CMC under the licenses tab, connections, I
show 65 licenses for a count, pooled in use shows 0, pooled available

We just downgraded to IE5.5 due to the odd refreshing in IE6. Our
thinclient terminals would go refresh crazy on sites with highly animated
ads. MS has a fix for it in IE5.5, but the same fix does not work for IE6.

IE6 went great here. I used the policy files from thethin.net to customize

Hi Rick
thanks for this info. i checked the registry and saw the profiles in the
profilelist. Even after running the script.
For clarification, if I run delprof, it SHOULD delete all profiles that are
not currently in use, but not "broken" profiles...correct?

Thanks Again

Hi Mario,

Delprof will only delete profiles referenced under
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\profilelist. It doesn't
actually know about the default user and all users profiles, but since
they're not listed under profilelist, they're left alone, as are profiles of
logged on users.

Typically, if a profile got stuck or corrupted, the "new" profile will be
something like username.001 etc. If you run delprof, the original "broken"
profile won't be deleted.

You'll need either win2k SP3 or Q292548 (fix stuck profiles) and a bit of
scripting to get rid of the profiles delprof doesn't delete.

Rick

@echo
REM This batch file gets rid of stuck profiles. x:\scripts\regunld.exe >>
x:\scripts\regunload.log echo y | delprof.exe :END

I've also tried
x:\scripts\DELPROF.EXE /y

Thanks again

Mario

I've had profiles that got stuck in the registry, especially with users that
were going between WinNT and Win2K TS boxes. We ended up having to
implement local policies for each server because of this. It was a pain.
They would get so stuck that you had to reboot the server before you could
even take ownership and delete them.

Greetings

We've installed IE6 recently onto a new W2K TS deployment with no problems,
but our most recent deployment, into an existing IE5.5 SP2+fixes
installation, failed.

The problem we experienced was a corruption of Window Explorer, whereby if
you click the 'Folders' button, the left-hand folders pane is completely
greyed out. If you then click, for example, the 'Search' button, subsequent
clicks on 'Folders' acts as if the 'Search' button was actually clicked. No
amount of re-installs or repairs of IE6 would fix the problem, neither did
W2K SP3 when installed both either before or after an installation of IE6.

I've searched the 'net extensively over the last few days and found many
people with the same problem, some dating all the way back to September
2001. The only mention of this problem in the M$ Knowledgebase is for W9x
(Q192315), but, as far as I can see, nobody has yet posted a W2K solution
anywhere. That is, unless somebody on this list knows differently .....

Regards,

Paul

I am noticing that my Winterminals are not getting this error message, only
PC's, and these PC's are ones that are running Windows 2000.

Is this the only server that has this problem? By chance do you have
a Windows 2000 Terminal Services Licesing Server, and did you
Authorize and Register it with Microsoft? I know that I ran into
issues in my test lab because I didn't have a MS Licensing Server.
Of course, this is if you are running Windows 2000 Terminal Services
with your MF XP product.

Then it
started locking up.

sorry about that. Sometimes it is a little tricky to link to Jim's =
stuff.

- From thethin.net Citrix Faq's:

Question:=20
I got my upgrade to Metaframe XP, we wiped the servers and did a
clean = install and now users cannot logon. We get the message Citrix
ICA Logon = Message " The system has reached its licensed logon
limit. Please try = again later.. What is the problem?

Response:=20
The Subscription Advantage provided licenses for MetaFrame XP are =
Migration licenses. Therefore, if you do a clean install, the
migration = licenses will not be valid unless a full license for a
previous version = is installed. You must enter the original license
on the XP server and it will convert = the old serial number to an XP
serial.=20 Then, you have to add the new converted serial to the
Farm. Then = activate it.=20

Maybe you should post what that FAQ was about.

I have just upgraded my last of 3 servers from 1.8 to XPa, they all
run Windows 2000. In the CMC under the licenses tab, connections, I
show 65 licenses for a count, pooled in use shows 0, pooled available
shows 65, assigned shows 0. In my event log, I am getting a message
"Application
Popup- Citrix ICA logon message-The system has reached it's licensed
=3D logon limit, Please try again later." Why isn't XP assigning
these licenses =3D if they are pooled and ready to hand out??

I have a lot of users who are trying to get on the system and getting
=3D this message, as you can imagine it is becoming an "issue"

Thanks in advance!

Scratch that, I just tried on my own Winterminal and got denied also. Same
message "Citrix ICA logon message-The system has reached it's licensed logon

"You do not have access to logon to this session"

Regards,

Just curious if anyone has gotten this software to work in a Citrix
environment.
I saw a post from November of last year but it didn't seem like anyone had
done it yet.
Thanks
Mario

I had 3.0 running just fine - no tricks or tweaks,
just a simple install.

Multiple users, although I can't swear that they used
it simultaneously.

Subject: [THIN] Connection Licensing -- Please help
Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 15:13:12 -0400

Looks like connection licensing happens to be the topic du jour...

I have a production farm with 2 servers connecting to a backend SQL database
through a dedicated data collector.

I'm trying to migrate the farm to provide more flexibility (namely for a DR
site), so I just put online a new server which bypasses the data collector
and accesses the SQL database directly through a system DSN, thereby
becoming another data collector, I think.

The new server sees the server licensing, but not the connection licensing.
No users can log in except for designated MetaFrame administrators. Here's
the real kicker -- the new server can list ALL licensing information in the
SQL database through the CMC, but the connection licenses are reported as
ZERO...huh?

Also, the new server only sees other servers that have a direct SQL
connection (my production data collector, namely)...the main production
metaframe boxes don't appear in the server section of the CMC navigation
tree. However, when I publish an app, NFuse picks up the new app without an
issue.

All server configs are as follows:

NT4 TSE SP6
MetaFrame XPa 1.0 FR1

SQL database is Microsoft SQL Server 2000

Does anyone have an idea what to check? I've already ensured that the new
server is in the same farm and zone as the production boxes, I've checked to
ensure the Feature Release level is consistent, and I've double and
triple-checked the Product Code to ensure it is consistent.

Someone please help...this is driving me crazy!

Thanks in advance.
