The users type the url themselves in a new e-mail if they want to :-)
but I agree this is a way to discourage people since they are not using
a 'regular' internet explorer.
Today I did some work on their server and could not detect any annoying
spyware. For the kiosk options I have used Win-U and DeepFreeze Pro but
those only work on desktops. Win-U is a program that disables a lot of
Explorer features by for example disabling ALT and TAB keys. DeepFreeze
works similar to VMware's option to discard or commit changes to the
harddisk. Even users who totally kill their Windows or IE will have the
original system restored automatically and with no noticeable delay when
they reboot, ideal for public places.
I have installed thin clients for the same customer, 2x Optoma ST325,
very nice and cheap machines with Windows CE 4.20 and no rotating parts
and 36W power consumption. I was surprised that the built in Internet
Explorer does not support Java or Flash. I think I understand that Java
and Flash are no standards like HTML, although the whole world is using
them. The users seemed very happy with their noiseless, compact desktops
without the fuzz like balloon tips, updates and OK - Cancel questions.
One thing they did not notice but my guess is they will in future is
that websites become inaccessible with their new browsers. Tips on how
to overcome this are very appreciated.

I'm not too sure about this, but could you open IE in a kisok type mode
where you remove all of the address bars. They should only be able to
see the page that was sent to them and navigate through that site.
Now if they were sent google's web page they could get around this, but
it may be a way to meet somewhere in the middle.
