[THIN] mmc hangs on reboot

I have a server that I have scheduled for nightly reboots. MF 1.8 on Win2k.
occasionally the mmc.exe hangs on shutdown and the reboot process does not
finish. The shutdown stops at the End Process dialog box
Anyone know how to fix this?
