[THIN] Re: ica fails to launch

Jason,

We get this occasionally when either:

1.
The firewall on the PC blocks execution and doesn't display a
message to the user.
2.
A virus scanner update causes the ICA file to be quarantined
3.
You're using the Secure Gateway and the user's PC is locked down
so it won't accept encrypted pages
        Have the user:
        (1) Start Internet Explorer
        (2) Click on the "Tools" menu
        (3) Select "Internet Options"
        (4) Click on the "Advanced" tab
        (5) Scroll down to the "Security" options
        (6) Make sure "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is not
selected
4. Temporary Internet files folder is too large. Have the user try
clearing it.

Jeff

On at least one client I did re-install and it did nothing. I was still
getting the same result. I have a user emailing me a copy of the ICA
file that is doing nothing and I will look to see if It appears out of
whack.
I will try having the user re-install again to be sure though.

THis is something I haven't seen in a long time but I cannot
remember the fix or even find the fix anymore. I have a few users now
complaining that when they try to connect they click on the link in the
WI and nothing happens. I have had them try to right-click on the link
and open it in a new window and again it never even attempts to connect.
Troubleshooting further I had the user right-click, and save the ICA
file to their desktop. When they double-clicked onthe ICA file it again
did nothing, it didnt open in notepad, or attempt to connect or appear
to do anything at all.
I seem to remember that some kind of spyware / malware program
had this affect. Was it Gator or something? Anyway I cannot find
anything on this paticular issue at the moment. The users are running
Windows XP with the latest 10 or 10.1 Web client.
