[THIN] Re: file save errors

Hi Andrew;

The file save issue happens on both server types.

I'll probably be removing the Novell client, and making all have the MS
client for Netware. Reason being; we get these annoying popup boxes (Novell
login GINA popups) on server with Novell client - I think they are related
to printing.

As for the file save problem, I have taken a couple of test users, moved
their files to an NT server, and they are not having the file save issues.

Our file save issues started after upgrading Citrix to FR3 SP3, and Windows
2000 to SP4. We might try rolling back the SP4 to SP3 to see if that helps
(ultimately, we are going to leave Novell - too many password issues). I
wonder if there some compatibility issues with Win2k SP4 and Novell.

We get this on rare occasions - novell 5 server here with mf1.8 on nt4. As
far as I can tell, its something locking the file for no real reason. The
first time we had the problem we traced it to our file indexing server - was
scanning all the files and then leaving them locked on the novell server
somehow. upgrading that machine to 2003 solved that one (was nt4 before as
well)

On the other occasions we get this, it seems to either be a virus scanner,
or windows doing something with the file.. either way, seems to be the
novell server lagging behind whats actually going on! when copying files,
you often have to wait for the little tooltip to appear before the server
will let you move the file :(

I suspect its a something to do with a client setting - you dont mention if
it happens on the server without novells client?

The folder 'Y:\Documents\...\filename.doc' isn't accessible. The folder
may be located on an unavailable volume or protected with a password.

The folder\file is located on a Novell 4.12 server. The user generally is
the only one using the file. The mapped drive has been created using a
login script, as well as via Windows Explorer.
