I've used what was legato's application server, which I think is now EMC's Autostart. That allowed you to configure multiple servers to host the same service and automatically fail over that service in the event of an individual server failure. That service could be many things - including printing. At the time, the advantage over clustering was that the servers didn't need to be have a dedicated and connected shared resource - it could be deployed to existing h/w. The advantage over the 'change the dns/cname entries' was that, in the event of a disaster, it just worked and there was no need for in-house scripts to be maintained and forgotten about. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of deheugden Sent: 09 June 2008 08:29 To: thin Subject: [THIN] fault tolerance print servers guys, i would like to build 2 printservers with the sameprinters for our user. i want these printservers to be fault tolerance(if 1 server crashes,he other should take it automatically over). whats the best way of doing that or can some advise a different way of creating fault tolerance prinservers? thanks. ************************************************ For Archives, RSS, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: //www.freelists.org/list/thin You can follow the Thin List on Twitter: http://twitter.com/thinlist Thin List disucssion is now available for reading in blog format at: http://thinmaillist.blogspot.com ************************************************ ************************************************ For Archives, RSS, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: //www.freelists.org/list/thin You can follow the Thin List on Twitter: http://twitter.com/thinlist Thin List disucssion is now available for reading in blog format at: http://thinmaillist.blogspot.com ************************************************
