Sweet. Thanks for the confirmation. I'm going to go ahead and pull the
trigger then.

Should not be an issue provided you're not modifying anything in the
existing farm... I typically do parallel installations of PS4 along
side a production XP Farm as a migration strategy.

Joe,

Does that mean that I can safely bring up a separate PS4 farm on the
same subnet as an existing MFXPe 1.0 farm? I want to do some testing
with PS4 in regards to client performance with Flash and due to firewall
rules, I want to bring it up on the same subnet as the current
production farm so the PS4 MF test servers will have access to all the
back-end hosts that are configured in the firewalls.

Thanks!

rob

This is correct. XP and PS 3.0/4.x use completely different licensing
models. One does not know the other exists.

For the most part, you should not have to reissue licenses for the old
farm (They are already installed?).

We're building a separate farm entirely, so for us, the new farm will
not be "aware" of the old. My suspicion is that if you do it this way,
upgrading the license and installing it for the new farm will have zero
impact on the old farm as long as you don't change any licensing there.
I can only see it would be an issue if you had to reissue licenses for
the old farm which might get dicey if they've been upgraded.

So you can have 1 license assigned to both farms? (during the upgrade I
mean) This would be very helpful for our own upgrade....

How does Citrix manage this?

I'm not sure if anyone answered this. You can upgrade your
licenses without impacting your current farm. I did the same thing
upgrading to PS4.

As far as 1.7 goes I'm not sure but I wouldn't think so. In my
option the new version of WI is easier to use anyway so I'd consider
upgrading. I also think the new WI is backward compatible with your old
farm...maybe someone more experienced can confirm that.

We have an existing Metaframe XPe farm.

We are going to build a new CPS 4.0 farm to replace it.

I need to perform the license upgrade on mycitrix.com. Will
doing this cause a problem with my old Metaframe XPe farm? It's
critical that it stays up and operational while I pre-stage the
replacement farm.

Also, Will NFuse 1.7 work w/ CPS 4.0 or will I need to upgrade
the web piece at the same time?

        Thanks,

        MM
