Hi Randy, I didn't see anyone respond to this, so I'll throw in my two cents... :-) For MetaFrame XP, there are four books: *Citrix MetaFrame XP: Advanced Technical Design Guide, by Brian Madden *Citrix MetaFrame for Windows Server 2003: The Official Guide, by Steve Kaplan *Inside Citrix MetaFrame XP: A System Administrator's Guide to Citrix MetaFrame XP/1.8 and Windows Terminal Services, by Ted Hardwood *Configuring Citrix MetaFrame XP for Windows, by Melissa Craft AS for which is best generally depends on what you're looking for. Brian Madden's book focuses on real world design. I has no screen shots and is not a rehash of the instruction manual. It's made for people who need to design Citrix environments. It's written on Windows 2000 and XP FR-2, but from a design standpoint, it's all the same. Ted Hardwood's book is more of an admin guide. Sure, it covers some design stuff, but it's more about what Citrix is and how to use it. It's written on MetaFrame XP FR-1, but it has a lot of content on MF 1.8 administration as well. Kaplan's book is published by Citrix Press. It's not as technical as the other two, rather, it talks a lot about what server-based computing is and when to use it, how to run projects, etc. Since it's published by Citrix, everything in it is always positive all the time. (Which isn't exactly how the real world always works.) The good news is that this book is new, so it covers FR-3 and Win 2003. Melissa Craft's book is also written on XP FR-1. It was written by several authors (many are members of this list, actually). Unfortunately, the book lacks a central focus and overall isn't that strong. This book is not really in contention for consideration. From a Windows 2003 standpoint, there are two books that focus on Terminal Services: *Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services, by Bernhard Tritsch *Terminal Services for Microsoft Windows Server 2003: Advanced Technical Design Guide, by Brian Madden and Ron Oglesby Bernhard Tritsch's book is published by MS Press, so there is a lot of spin. Also, it tries to cover a lot of MetaFrame stuff which leaves it kind of weak in the pure TS area. Oglesby & Madden's book is written for people who want to use Terminal Services only. It's for people who need to design Windows 2003 Terminal Server environments. Finally, a few more points: If you're not sure about whether you want to use plain Terminal Services or Citrix MetaFrame, check out my head-to-head comparison of them (and DAT Panther, Jetro, and Tarantella New Moon Canaveral iQ) at http://www.brianmadden.com/reviews/SBC_Software_Roundup.htm Also, if you haven't read it yet, be sure to get Doug Brown's MetaFrame XP Methodology-in-a-Box. This leads you through a MetaFrame XP design and implementation from a project management standpoint.
