Hi,

Does anyone here successfully use Zetafax on MPS4?

We use it, and it causes us no end of trouble.

To get it installed in the first place you need to stop the Citrix Print
Manager first, otherwise it fails...

Then it works for a few days and then the "Zetafax printer" stops working.
You print a fax and nothing happens.

When this happens, you have to do a complete de-install and reinstall, with
a server reboot in the middle to clear up all the rogue files and settings.

Hardly ideal!!!


The official line from Equisys is:

As I hope you are aware Zetafax does not yet support Citrix Metaframe
Presentation Server 4.0 (MPS4). We use Metasoft as our printer driver.
Currently they do not support this and we cannot release our own print
driver.

The problem lies with the communication between the Zetafax Print
Controller and the Zetafax Daemon program. After a period of time, the pipe
which they use to communicate becomes unavailable so the daemon reverts to
its default spool location. As the Zetafax client is looking for spooled
output in the sessionâs temp area, it no longer presents the addressing
dialog when printing.

Although I appreciate you have a current workaround which is not ideal, we
are planning to add support for MPS4 in the New Year which will remove the
need for it.  We hope to be able to make support available before the end
of Q2 2006.

Has anyone managed to get Zetafax working reliably on MPS4???
