Hi Chad,

Not necessarily. It only changes once a minute. If you couple that with
keystrokes, it's not such a big deal. This, and Explorer folder views, were
always the biggest user complaints I got until I actually did something
about it.

I have a script that runs from the usrlogon.cmd script that enables the
clock. I'll send it to you off list. However, I'll explain more about the
process here for the benefit of others. The script was actually written by
a thin list oldie...Jeff Durbin. I have only cleaned it up to suite my
requirements, so cannot take the credit for it. It's called
SetTaskBarOptions.vbs. It is located somewhere on the net.

1) Place the file here:
   %SystemRoot%\system32\SetTaskBarOptions.vbs
2) Add the following line to the top of the usrlogon.cmd file:
   cscript "%systemroot%\system32\SetTaskBarOptions.vbs" //Nologo

Now, the script must run before the explorer.exe process has initialised,
otherwise the changes will only take effect at the next logon. Also, the
StuckRects2 key does not exist for new user profiles until the user has
logged in once, so the clock will not appear until their 2nd logon.

This script takes care of other Taskbar settings too, but I only use it to
turn on the clock.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

 Kind regards,

 Jeremy Saunders

Investigated that....agreed.

You *may* also want to reconsider. HAving teh clock showing forces
regular updating of the clock, thus creating screen refreshes, thus
using up bandwidth and processor cycles.
