Au contraire - they are able and willing to use the out of office auto
reply thing. What they don't do, is set filters to exempt this list.

And as these are increasing in both numbers, and the language used on
the subject line, aren't really that easily filtered by list members who
are following good netiquette.

'98 for me.

However, it wasn't always so problematic. I suspect there's something of
the Always September phenomenon, but also some of the list hosting
environments, didn't always propagate OOO replies, so it may have been
misleading.
