[THIN] Re: Why the Out of Office replies?

I don't know if this is ground already covered but I'll throw it in
anyway, in GroupWise (I assume there is a similar feature in outlook!
And yes I know it's rubbish!) it is possible to set up two rules when I
go on leave that will stop this from happening. The first of which
replies to the sender informing them of your absence from the office,
the second makes use of the stop rule processing feature. The criteria
for the second rule is the subject the relevant mailing list makes use
of, in this instance, all received items where subject contains [thin].
This will allow your email client to reply to all emails received
however it will stop the rule from coming into action when the subject
contains [THIN]. Hopes this makes sense and that I haven't got hold of
the wrong end of the stick.....again!

That doesn't help too much, because we're trying to keep OOO on, but
not
send to mailing lists. We have to have it going to the 'net because
of
Customer Support and Sales.. Maybe there's another way. Will research
more
later.

If someone could help us out with how to do it... I tried but can't
figure
out how to tell it NOT to send back the OOO reply. (figured out how
to
reply with something ELSE tho).

Thanks,

Jen

I was referring to the feature which filters out the lists they belong
to.
Which makes them either unable or unwilling. If they don't know about
it, I
would consider them unable. If they do know about it and don't use it,
I
would consider them unwilling. Usually I find that if someone is
willing to
do something, they will (especially after the dozens of times we have
had
the OOO discussion). Again as in my last post, this is just my
opinion.
YMMV (or YOMV (opinion)).

Au contraire - they are able and willing to use the out of office auto
reply
thing. What they don't do, is set filters to exempt this list.
