Thank U Jim, I will test it.
Could you do me a favor and send a the script as an zipped attachment to

dscp@xxxxxxxx

Thank U in advance

Well . . I have an answer, you may not like it though.=20

This info is stored in binary format in the registry, so it's not a
simple case of typing in the right name for the value you need.=20

I plagiarized someone else's kix script to do this change on the fly
during logins for a client a while back, this script is specific to
office XP, but Office 2k is just a 9.0, instead of 10.0 if I recall
correctly.=20

There may be other solutions but this worked great for my case, Kix
Script posted below . . HTH

        IF (ExistKey($ikey) =3D 0)=20
                $i=3D1

                WHILE ($i <=3D len($fullname))
                $hex=3Ddectohex(asc(substr($fullname,$i,1)))
                $username1=3D" "+$username1+$hex+"00"
                $i=3D$i+1 =20
                LOOP   =20
                $username1=3DLCASE(LTRIM($username1)+"00"+"00")
                $result=3DWriteValue($ikey, "UserName", $username1,

                IF ($result =3D 0) =20

Hi Michael,=20

yes that is my boat, your welcome :-)
Kind of happy, that I am not the only one having this problem.
Some user where really kind of incriminating me.
No, let us see if someone here in the list can row us back to the shore
:-)

Ciao, Daniel

I can't believe I am reading this. I have been getting calls from =3D
users all
over the company asking me to let them know when I am done with their
spreadsheets and documents. I was never in them! I was just about to =
=3D
start
looking in to this since I am in the same boat as you. The funny thing
=3D
is
most of them never asked me *why* I was in their docs, just asked me to
=3D
let
them know when I was out.=3D20

Subject: [THIN] Where are the Office User information kept ?

Hi list

And here is my last question for today :-)

After that I installed the Office 2000 Suite, some users, who probably
didn't enter THEIR name and initials in the Popup field that oppened =3D
when
they first start Office, and kept my name and initials in that field, =
=3D
ran
arround creating and changing Office documents on my behalf. :-( So I
searched where in the registry or somewhere else this information is =3D
kept,
but I didn't find it.
Of course user can change this themselves within Word, but I would like
=3D
to
script this.
So, does anybody knows where are the Office User information kept ?

Ciao, Daniel
