Subject: [THIN] Re: Web Interface 5.2 client deployment issue
Hi Jeremy
Yes we eventually worked this out and posted it on the Citrix Forums.
The link to the forun is:
and the answer to fix this issue is below:
Download XA 5.0 FR2 CD from my citrix.
Copy the clients and folder structure fom the XA 5.0 FR2 CD to
C:\Program Files\Citrix\Web Interface\5.2.0\Clients
The strcuture should now be:
C:\Program Files\Citrix\Web Interface\5.2.0\Clients\Windows\Online
Plug-in and contain CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe
C:\Program Files\Citrix\Web Interface\5.2.0\Clients\Java
C:\Program Files\Citrix\Web Interface\5.2.0\Clients\Mac
etc...you will see this on he FR2 CD.
Now this still didn't work. Why because, as Citrix seem to forget, most
people will be doing an upgrade of the WI from
and earlier version, not a fresh install - in my case upgrade from
5.1.2. So well done to Citrix for the lack of
documentation in changing the client folder structure. Also most people
will only download the webinterface.exe file
from My Citrix so if Citrix emplyees are listening - ensure you put a
big note on this download page of the changes to
the client structure and th requirement to download the latest clients.
Okay, now for everyone who did an upgrade:
Create the folder strcture as earlier stated and include all of the
clients you need.
Ensure there is no residue from old clients in the client folder. eg. No
ica32, java32 etc folders.
Open the ne WI management console and select your existing WI site. This
will of course have been updated in the WI
install.
Select Client Deployment on the right.
The box pops up as to which client you want deployed - Choose all 3 -
Native, java and RDP and press OK and close
the management console.
Try to logon to WI from a client machine with no client and you should
find that the client deployment will now go
directly to your server and not the Citrix download site.
Go back to WI management console and untick the clients you don't want
to deploy. Everything should now be working.
My guess is that because of the upgrade, the client deployment
configuration file h not correctly been reset. After
choosing a different option on the client deployment screen, it appears
to rewrite theinfoatin correctly.
I hope this helps everyone.
