[THIN] Re: Way OT: AD <---> eDirectory Sync

I havenât had time to prove it out yet but you could try running CIFS from
the NetWare server. This apparently allows you to connect without the NetWare
client installed.

We run in a Netware environment and were tinkering with this solution however
it has been pushed aside for the time being.

Thanks,

Woops...hadn't finished...

5.03 is the version of MSDSS, not NetWare supported. That confuses heaps of
people. I've used it heaps, mostly for migrations. I didn't think it was a
POS. It serves a purpose.

Cheers.

MSDSS will do the trick, as all you want to do is sync them. DirXML like
MIIS is a metadirectory product, which is a total overkill for what you
need.

Also, you may want to Microsoftâs MSDSS to your do not evaluate listâ It
looks as Netware 5.03 is the latest version supported. Itâs also a POS to
boot.

I have not. I'll add it to the list, which now consists of 1 item!

DirXML.

Thanks.

Subject: [THIN] Way OT: AD <---> eDirectory Sync

We currently run Windows2003 with Active Directory for everything. Due to
an acquisition we will need to coexist with Novell (6.5 I believe) for a
while. Could be 2 years but the decision has been made to replace Novell
with Microsoft. Is there a way/product to keep the 2 directories in sync
with each other so that AD could become the "master/primary"?

For our side to access the acquired side we would need Novell accounts.
Instead of creating eDirectory accounts for everyone we were wondering if
syncing would work. Anyone ever do anything like this? Also, is there any
other way to access a netware file server other than the full netware
client? I would like to avoid adding it to our Citrix Farm.

Thanks in advance.
