Same here. The way I see it, my salary takes that into
consideration. We do get extra pay IF we get called but we each
accept that we are expected to be available when needed. I will say
that we aren't running 24x7 anymore (whew) but if there is a problem
with a system (like this past saturday at 2:30 AM) we have to respond
and have it going when the users arrive, usually at 4:00 AM.
I'd say that if you don't believe your salary is sufficient to cover
this expectation, the choice is yours.
