[THIN] Re: WYSE Terminal Connection Error

if you open up a compaq, it will say Wyse inside. They are exactly the =
same box.

The power bricks are the weak link of both of those in my opinion.

We have been using Neoware here. Their Neolinux os is pretty stable and =
they do the whole boot and configure thing that Brian was talking about. =
=20

The ANT units are pretty cool though. I would love to get one around =
here for a few months.

Unfortunately not, We've only tested WYSE and Compaq, and they are
pretty much the same box. =3D20

Bring back the DOS Client!

Thanks Rob and Robert. I'll follow this up after the break.

We are going to get some of the SUMO terminals in for trial, I think =
=3D3D
some other members on the list have tried them and they appear to be a
good =3D3D buy.

Many thanks guys, your due a pint at iForum!

John

Good luck with Wyse. We are not very happy with their terminals. Of =
=3D
=3D3D
the 230 we purchased about 40 have been sent back for repair for one
thing =3D3D or another. Their tech support however is helpful. =

Robert,

We are getting that exact error. I have sent an email to all users =
=3D3D
telling them to switch their terminals off before they leave for the
day.

I'm going to see how it goes next week and if necessacery I'll raise a =
=3D
=3D3D
call with WYSE. I'm pleased that someone else is having the same
problem though!=3D3D3D3D20

Many thanks,

John

What is the actual "terminal connection error" you are getting? We are
running Wyse 3360's and have basically the same type of setup with the
exception of all connections being made on a 100Mb switched internal
network. What we are finding is that the Wyse clients do not take well
=3D3D to being on while the servers are being rebooted. Most of our =
users
have gotten to the point of knowing that when they arrive in the morning
to =3D3D logon and it gives them an error like "no server found", =
staying =3D
on
the white =3D3D Wyse screen (can't remember the proper name) they simply
unplug the terminal =3D3D and plug it back in and it is fine. Those =
users
who faithfully turn the =3D3D client off before going home have far less
problems.

Subject: [THIN] WYSE Terminal Connection Error

Hi guys,

I am hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction =
=3D3D
with this one.

Scenario:
Random users of the WYSE WT3125 terminal will attempt to connect with =
=3D
=3D3D
their terminal to a published desktop. The terminal is configured to
connect =3D3D to "Standard Desktop" using the ica server location. Ica =
is
in DNS and round-robins with about 6 servers.

Funny thing is though, the day after the terminal will work fine with no
problems what so ever.

It affects users on our construction sites (64K lines), our regional =
=3D3D
offices (2 - 4 mb lines), and here in our head office (100mb LAN). =
=3D3D3D
=3D3D3D3D3D20

All servers are rebooted in increments of 10 minutes from midnight. This
issue occurs even when all servers are and running and accepting ICA =
=3D3D
client requests.

Users very rarely turn off the terminal, just switch the monitor off.
=3D3D3D3D3D20

We also have a lot of normal PC's running anything from Windows 95 to
Windows 2000 running published apps via NFuse and never get any =3D3D
connection problems (unless something has kicked off).

Servers:
All servers are DELL 1650's, Windows 2000 SP2 + Hotfixes, MetaFrame XP =
=3D
=3D3D
FR2.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Regards,
John
