How about trying to map the drivers, ie. A close enought generic driver that
will be Citrix friendly on Citrix but also work by mapping half decently to the
driver the Server Team wants to use?

As we are constantly buying a lot of new PC’s from DELL and all of them have
Vista preinstalled our management decided not to downgrade Vista to XP anymore.
At the moment our DSS (Server and Desktop Support) are going to install only MS
printer drivers so they shouldn’t have any problem with drivers’ certification.
I am really afraid of installing any new printer drivers on Citrix/Ts as we had
a lot of problems with them few years ago.
Is it possible to keep Windows XP/2000 drivers on print servers and still print
from Vista?

Hi Zygmunt,
The only possible reason for loading the Vista compatible drivers is if you're
in the process of rolling out Vista. However since Vista won't install printer
drivers for non-admins unless they're certified and in the local Driver Store,
I'd love to know the logic behind the decision. Vista is much more "fussy"
about installing any sort of drivers.
In terms of TS, a lot of Vista drivers are backwards compatible with XP/2003 so
it really boils down to testing the drivers with Citrix' AddPrinter or
StressPrinters utilities. If they pass they're probably okay. But I'd still ask
if rolling out Vista drivers is actually going to achieve anything useful.

Subject: [THIN] Vista printer driver
Is anyone has experience with Microsoft printer drivers for Vista?
Our server team would like to update drivers on all Windows print servers. As
we use session printers we have to be sure that the new printer drives will not
crash our Citrix servers.
For example we have been using “Lexmark T620 PS3” without any problem. Now
server guys would like to update the driver and replace it with “Lexmark T620
PS (MS)” which is new Microsoft Vista compatible driver.
Should I expect any problem with new Microsoft printer driver or they are safe
for Citrix?
Thanks for any advice
