They only main difference that I saw was PXE boot capability and better support
for SAN equipment (mainnly EMC stuff). It's still on the same Kernel version.
It also includes the same patches you would download and install from the
Vmware support site for 2.0 and 2.01. The installation is WAY different as
it's a true GUI. It also has some internal checks on the management site (i.e.
you need to create your VM Swap File partition and dump crash location). I
still need to play around with it somemore, but I don't see a huge difference.

I run GSX 3.0 on my laptop. We also run ESX 2.1 in production. We are = in
the process of getting VirtualCenter 1.01, and will manage all of our = ESX
servers with that console. I also run ESX 2.1 and 2.01 in my lab at = home.
I'm going to be playing with V2P this weekend. :D

For those who didn't know it already
VMWare Workstation is out now:

http://www.vmware.com/products/desktop/ws_features.html

Good that MS Virtual Server is capable of runnig up to 3.6 GB of VMs. I think,
that was the reason that VMWare threw away the 1 GB limit. I love = the new
version. We're running about 15 VMs (WI, CSG, RSA Ace Server, PS, Proxies, Web
Server, SQL DS, etc.)with several WMWare Host (all only Workstation Version, no
GSX or ESX) in production since nearly 2 years.
Absolutely no problems and saved a lot of money and time. I really love = that
product. I was alleready planning to upgrade to ESX but now it doesn't = seems
to be necesarry to spend a lot of money for really expensive licenses.
Everywhere I talk with other admins about VMWare Workstation, they're = saying
that they use is just for testing and demos. Why ? It runs perfect in
production. Am I the only one who made this experience ?

Ciao, Daniel
