Jim

This evening I tried to follow the instructions supplied with the WTSRV
FAQ for renaming the My Computer Icon to %Username% %Computername%. On
my machines I had a localised string which specified the title of the
icon. I am running W2K with SP2 + XPe. I have written up some doco for
our environment and thought that others may be helped by it. =20

-----------------------------------------------------------
To modify the My Computer and My Network Places titles complete the
following steps:
1.      Open Regedt32
2.      BROWSE to HKCR=5CCLSID=5C=7B20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D=7D=

3. Replace the LocalizedString value with the following settings :
  a.      Value Name    : LocalizedString
  b.      Data Type     : REG_EXPAND_SZ
  c.      Data          :
=40V:=5CWTSRV=5Csystem32=5Cshell32.dll,-9216=401033,%COMPUTERNAME%
4.      Repeat witReceived: from WEB-MTA by gmail1.housing.wa.gov.au
        h the =93My Network Places=94
  a.      BROWSE to HKCR=5CCLSID =7B208D2C60-3AEA-1069-A2D7-08002B30309D=7D=

  b.      Value Name    : LocalizedString
  c.      Data Type     : REG_EXPAND_SZ
  d.      =40V:=5CWTSRV=5Csystem32=5Cshell32.dll,-9217=401033,%USERDOMAIN%
5. Ensure that the Data Type is REG_EXPAND_SZ for both values=96 do
not edit the original LocalizedString it will not work.
6. Click on one of the desktop icons and hit F5.
------------------------------------------------------------

FYI once the change is made on one computer export the value to a reg
file and then you can merge the changes by a double click :)
